Performer
Dave Alcorn is a recent graduate of the University of Michigan, completing his Bachelors Degree in Percussion Performance and Music Education.
While there, he studied performance with acclaimed musicians including Michael Udow, Joseph Gramley, Ian Ding, Brian Jones, Cary Kocher and Pete Siers. Dave was also a member of the University Symphony Band, under the direction of Michael Haithcock, as well as the University Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Kenneth Kiesler. As a member of these groups, Dave was privileged to be a performer on the Symphony Band CD, “Raise the Roof,” and join the Symphony Orchestra on a tour to Carnegie Hall in 2008.
Outside of school, Dave is a sub for the Lansing Symphony Orchestra and the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. In addition, Dave is the former principle percussionist / timpanist for the Livingston Symphony Orchestra. He is also the former president and member of the Samba group Vencedores.
In 2010, Dave was privileged to perform a recital with Joseph Gramley and Jeffrey Lyman as part of the MPulse institute of music. Videos from the performance can be found here.
Dave is also an active member of the percussion group Clocks in Motion. This group is a contemporary percussion ensemble dedicated to performing classic percussion ensemble literature, chamber music, and commissioning new repertoire. For more information on Clocks in Motion, click here.
Currently Dave attends the University of Wisconsin Madison, studying with Anthony Di Sanza for his Masters degree in percussion performance.
